Performance Analysis of Giant Magnetostrictive Actuator and Its Application on Active Suspension of Train

Active suspension is considered to be a good way improve the ride comfort of high-speed trains. According output index requirements train’s active suspension, giant magnetostrictive actuator(GMA) proposed. This mainly because materials(GMM) has characteristics fast response, large force and high energy conversion rate. It verified by experiments that proportional excitation current. found in experiment frequency should greater than 120Hz obtain stable force, it also preload will affect response time. On basis experiments, 2-DOF physical mathematical model vertical quarter train built. An MPC algorithm designed control GMA suspension. Through simulation analysis, proposed compared with passive based on PID algorithm. Both theory practice show effective.
